Attend an after-hours party at the Seattle Art Museum - a can't miss event held three times a year!
MUSEUM EVENTSSAM
Picture this: you walk into a beautiful, large space, with striking art hanging from the ceiling. There’s a bar to your right as you walk in, serving sumptuous snacks. As you walk in farther, there’s a stage with a live band to your left. Walking to the end of the hall, you peek over the railing that looks out over the lower South Hall and you see a little dance floor, people getting down to the music the DJ down there is spinning. You walk down the hallway to your left and you pass activity after activity: an aura photo booth, tarot card readings, kandi bracelet making. You’re in an art museum, and you realize that all the galleries that would normally be closed this late on a Friday night are open for you to explore. You take your date up to the third and fourth floors, stumbling upon more activities around the corners, including a chill relax area where records are being played and the lights are turned down low. You walk past art with paper signs posted next to them, encouraging you to play the scavenger hunt game the event put together. You go back down to the first floor, full of people, to get a drink and head to the dance floor. The night is young and there’s so much to do! You’re at your first Seattle Art Museum Remix party.

If you haven’t been to a Seattle Art Museum Remix party yet, take this as your sign and invitation to remedy that at your next opportunity. SAM Remixes are after-hours parties held at the museum or at the Olympic Sculpture Park in the summer.
Held three times a year, each Remix is unique; each event is guided by a particular theme. This last Remix, the theme was *~*crush*~*, playing on the excitement of meeting new people. These Remixes are a great way to do just that; engage with your community and meet new people in a fun and interesting environment. Or go with friends and make a whole night out of it!
Remixes have snacks, drinks, and a plethora of activities, performances, and experiences. At this Remix, they had live bands and DJs in multiple locations, kandi bracelet making, tarot card reading, an aura photo booth, and many more as you walked through the museum.
The entire museum and all their galleries are open to partygoers, and it's a great way to explore the museum in a relaxed atmosphere. There are gallery activities (kind of like a scavenger hunt) that connect the theme of the event with the art pieces throughout the museum, creating an engaging and cohesive experience.
Museums are much more than stuffy and uptight environments that you’re encouraged to be silent and contemplative in. Museums are cultural hubs, designed to be places that community members can gather and feel emotions, engage with the community, and have unique experiences that leave them feeling educated and connected. A SAM Remix event is a unique atmosphere to experience a museum in, making the museum accessible and fun for everyone, whether they’re a regular museum-attendee or not.
Look out for the next Remix event in a couple months, you might just see me there!
